Therapy

The pictures and notes on this page are from Taylors therapist.  She was kind enough to put this together for us to show the different things that Taylor does and how they affect him.

PLATFORM SWING

Taylor loves to spin in circles!  He could do this for hours. However, because he can do this for so long and not get dizzy, means his eyes, vestibular system and cerebellum, in his brain are not communicating effectively.  This in turn affects how Taylor learns, his balance and his walking.

SAND BAGS & STRETCHING

It is important to continually work on Taylor's range of motion and keeping his muscles loose and stretched.  It is also very hard to keep Taylor is positions that are good for optimal stretching and range.  Sandbags or a weighted blanket are helpful to position Taylor and to also provide proprioceptive feedback to Taylor's body.  This again will help with his balance and learning.

JUMPING CAGE

Taylor's body does not allow him the appropriate strength, coordination or balance to jump.  The cage system allows Taylor safety and feedback to practice.

"BERT"

A mechanical horse or I-Gallop simulates a horse's walk, trot or gallop.  This is helpful for Taylor's tight muscels, his nervous system communication and for strengthening his core muscles.

BIKE

The bike helps work on Taylor's range of motion and to help work his muscles.

Taylor loves therapy and loves being active so his family purchased the bike, above.  The bike is custom made to Taylor's measurements and will adjust as he grows.  Cost $1100.00.

The bike is only the first purchase, on the wishlist that his mom has, so she can work with Taylor at home, as well as what he does in therapy.  Next on the wish list is the swing, then "BERT".
